1 hour late!

RACHEL!!!!! and to her fellow blog readers. here i am again!

i'm like... an hour late for my "date" to blog in rachel's blog. oopsie.

sorry la. i procrastinated. i came home around 7plusplusplus, had some problems with the stupid desktop computer. so i had to switch it off. then went to eat dinner and bathe and... and... i got caught up with online-shopping. hahahaha. in which, i did NOT spend a single cent. because there's nothing nice. but nevertheless, i procrastinated. hahahahha. sorry laaaaaaaa. you know i still love you, rachel.

wahahahahahaha. okay. so.

let's see. let me talk about the annoying people in town today. i hate people who have nothing better to do but stare at you.

now you see. i've nothing against people who look at other people, meaning, for example, if an attractive girl/guy walks past, it's sort of human nature to look at the person and admire his/her beauty. but it's another thing, rude even, to STARE or SCRUTINISE!!!

okay. i'm not saying i'm some kind of hottie or beauty queen, because i know i'm a far cry from people who enter beauty contests. but i know that there are some people staring at me!! why???? because they just enjoy scrutinising. you can just imagine the speech bubble that could go something like "who is this malay girl? why she wear like that? tsk tsk tsk. showing too much."

you know like honestly. you want to comment, go ahead and comment TO YOURSELF. there is no need to STARE and try to size me up. like... stare up down up down. and let all your thoughts and comments be available for the public, including ME!!!!, to read.

don't know how some people can be so shamelessly horrible. ugh. slap them i tell you. slap them. stomp on their brains and squish it like squishing jelly. hmph.

anyway. rachel ng. you're missing out. cos tomorrow, yf is combined and WE'RE GOING TO THE BEACH!!! see la, rachel. you're missing out on the beach. lousy. hahahah.

but never mind. crowns in heaven, you will get, for sacrificing beach for missions. =) ain't that great? hahahha.

okay! i'm gonna watch my prison break! then go sleep. cos i'm tired. hahaha. love you rachel!

and hi to all her guest bloggers and faithful readers!!

alethia here!! signing off!! see ya! =)

must i have a title???

rachel ng hwee teng.

oh where is rachel ng hwee teng? somewhere in the outskirts of philippines. lalalalalalalala. i'm totally and utterly tired. AND in pain. why???? cos i just spent a whole day belaying kids. AND i had to use like all my energy to pull people to their feet ON THE ELEMENTS and my hands hurt from having to belay fast and long. rahhhhh... pity me rachel. while you're in the outskirts of philippines.

this is like a letter to rachel huh? okay. let's make it more formal.

dear rachel,
HI!!!!!!! yes this is how i used to start my letters to you right? when we were MUCH younger and more into letter writing, of course. and now, like... 5 years plus later, we've stopped writing letters due to busy schedules. but i'm supposed to write you a letter for the 5 weeks that you'll be in philippines. so i shall.

rachel rachel rachel. i had a 2-day event helper thing on tuesday night and wednesday. $8 an hour. not bad right, the pay? hahaha. (-someone- says i'm like talking to myself here. but no okay, this is a letter to you, rachel ng!! =)) our work was only hectic on wednesday morning. and a bit tedious on tuesday for the packing of goodie bags and stuff. but other than that, we were slacking. for $8 an hour, for 18 hours. cool right? woohoo!

and today. i had to do belaying. cos shima called and asked me to do. so okay. west spring sec at dfac. and dfac is definitely better than going all the way to sarimbun, or even raffles marina. so yeah. dfac is good. and i was there. and belaying. and belaying. WHY???? cos of all days, the weather decided to be hot and humid the WHOLE DAY and only rain for like... 20mins. stupid crap. rahhhh!!!! stupid passing cloud only la. pok i tell you. POK.

and so. here i am. whining about working. -_-" while you're in the outskirts of philippines. hehehehehhehe. =)

okay. i shall stop talking rubbish and update something better tomorrow. whee!!! love you rachel!!

bye! have fun in philippines! come back soon!

the candy store

the candy store

i met her outside the candy store...
she was standing there that day.
the next day, she was standing outside the same candy store...

i went over, and talked to her, "hi, i'm wayne"
and it all started from then.

i talked to her everyday by the roadside, and slowly i got to know her bit by bit. i offered her some candies, and it is somewhat interesting to anticipate which colour she would choose, and without fail many of them would be bright and brilliant, though sometimes she chose to
have the dull and uninviting colours.

slowly i started to offer her chocolates, as to me she is like a chocolate, even better. she looks like one though. when my candies were gray and solemn, she would offer me a bar of chocolate in return and say, "smile..!". it was sweet, both the chocolate and her smile, and it would tempt me to go into that very candy store to buy new bright coloured candies, which i would all the time.

i wanted to go into the candy store with her, but she said nothing.
i asked "would you want to go buy some candy with me?"
she said "i love candies!" and she'd never nudged from where she was sitting.

i could not understand why, and i'd really love to explore all the funny shaped chocolates and bits of rainbow coloured sweets with her, but move she did not. i was perplexed, confused, somewhat sad.

i came to know that,
if she said no, then i will continue asking and asking and eventually nothing would happen.
if she said yes, then with all the chocolates and candies there, would she still choose my vividly coloured candies, or would i still have her give me her bar of chocolate?
the fear of losing each other as friends happily enjoying ourselves with our own candy and sweets, i came to understand...

the weeks to come, she said she is leaving. she will come and go again, i thought. merely to say hi and update each other about new sweets that we find along our separate ways.
i will miss the times where i packed meals for her, or some chocolate brownie.
i will miss the times where i woke her up while she was sleeping by the candy store.
i will miss the times where i offered her chocolate chip cookies or chocolate ice creams when she was down.
i will miss the times where i had laughs for her forgetfulness and clumsiness.
i will miss the times where i asked for her help to throw away my rotten and disdained candy.

i will miss her bar of chocolate...

i've met her not for long, and i thought i knew her, but no, not even close, though the times by that very road opposite the cherry coloured shop had been very fulfilling and fun. thank you.

take care my sweet friend
and see you again, at the candy store...

there are some lines that stay with you for a lifetime. someone
gave me a scribbed note during one of the lowest points of my life.
they were words written by rilke. written from afar. the words
drew near. the same note has since helped me cross
other terrains that came my way. befriending ambivalence
and the occasional paradox. and mystery. eternity. sadness. loss.
and seeking. unlearning unfounded fears of ambiguity. vague
abstract terms that appear alien at first sight till you handle
them with your own hands and
find them a place within other lives lodged
in the clear bright space
of your one single life.

Be patient toward all that is unresolved in your heart.

Try to love the questions themselves.

Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given,

because you would not be able to live them.

And the point is, to live everything.

Live the questioning now.

Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing,

live along some distant day

into the answers.

rainer maria rilke

what i do becomes what i seek

A modest wish: that our doings and dealings may be of a little more
significance to life than a man’s dinner jacket is to his digestion.

Yet not a little of what we describe as our achievement is, in fact,
no more than a garment in which, on festive occasions,
we seek to hide our nakedness.

Guest Blogger 1

Hey world!(or anyone who's reading)...I'm glen. The FIRST guest blogger for rach's blog.HAHA!As i'm actually blogging without a mouse on my com(don't ask),you probably won't be able to see any variation in my text. Really sorry about that but you'll have to bear with me for just 2 days.

Hmm...I don't really know what's guest blogging material actually.Never done this before.Oh well,i guess i'll start by just briefly telling you about how i got to this really great friend, rachel.

I have a friend who goes by the name of wormy('yicong' is his real name). After O'levels,he...explored all possible paths to take for his academic progression(he crashed many JCs and CIs).After which,if you have guessed by now,he made many friends and yes, rach was one of the 'unlucky' ones.Soon after, wormy brought a whole load of people, including rach to meet myself and some others he knew from secondary school days. From there, we formed a clique,'W.O.L.S'.It consisted of 10 people,5 guys and 5 gals.So yea, that's how i met her and it has been 4 years ever since the first time we met eh.It's funny how time flys.HAHA!
I think i was supposed to blog about 'how everyone should get an eyebrow peircing' or something along that line too.Hmm...However,i personally am not a fan of peircing or any form of body art.And so,if i were to blog about it here,i'll probably get murdered when she returns man!haha! So yea.Peirce at your own risk.I don't advice you do so though!HAHA.

That's it for now folks.Later.Glen,OUT!

My hands and my thoughts and my tounge are suffering from snobbishities. Meaning to say, they've decided that they do not like blogspot and consequently though my brain's buzzing with words and mind pictures, they promptly protest the moment I log in. And then blogger retaliates by not letting me blog at all. which might therefore explain why I am writing this out on my hotmail account. I bet I'm the only person in the world who has to accomplish all sorts of antics before she can achieve any single event.

Anyway. Now that my hands and my thoughts and my tounge has decided to work again. I would like to announce two and a half things:

One, that I would very much like to be a primary school teacher. Lower primary, if you please. I have a memory of a little boy with the sweetest smile.
Halfly, I have also decided with all the impulsivity I am often said to own, that I want to marry a physicist with an artistic flair. I want my lover to be able to explain the hows and whys behind the spin of the disc; I want him to paint me the numerical picture of that magic.

Two and a halfly, I shall be leaving for the philippines for a month come thursday morning. After a little and much thought, I am very pleased and honoured to welcome my guest bloggers. ((:
The schedule is as follows:

the things you find

while packing to leave, I found the above little paragraph I scribbed on the 8th of May, 2006. This is what it says:

_____________

Random comment:
After all this invigiliating, I have become quite good at lip reading. Especially the words "paper" and "toilet".
[and no, students do not ask me for toilet paper].

o8th may.
